Officially established on January 1, 2021, Thu Duc city was established as the premise for a new stage of development, in a new mindset and as the 'launch pad' promoting the industrial revolution 4.0. Thu Duc is expected to become the largest supercomputer center, startup center and software park in the country, becoming a 5G city in the near future.

Foreseeing this expectation as well as this demand of Thu Duc city, Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group VNPT soon paid attention to, invested in and participated in the development of telecommunications infrastructure, information technology here. Right from the end of December 2020, VinaPhone mobile network of VNPT Group has officially broadcast 5G commercial test in Thu Duc city, becoming the first operator to cover 5G in this new city, contributing to creating the first premise in the development of the city.

Not only that, on April 2, 2021, Thu Duc People's Committee and Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the goal of contributing to building Thu Duc city into a smart city full of creativity, civilization, modernity. The signing of strategic cooperation with VNPT will support the People's Committee of Thu Duc city deploy smart IT solutions, services and products, promoting the application of IT in the field of management, and step by step perfecting the e-government, smart city development, especially regarding key industries such as Health, Education, Transport, Environmental Resources ..., contributing to building Thu Duc city into a smart, creative, civilized and modern city.
